Madras Artillery Volunteers

Madras Artillery Volunteers functioned under the Volunteer Corps of British Indian Army. It was re-designated as the No. 5 (Madras) Field Company.

The Madras Artillery Volunteers, also known as the No. 1 (Madras) Signal Company was an erstwhile artillery unit that functioned under the Volunteer Corps of British Indian Army. The unit was a part of the Madras Army of the Madras Presidency. The armed force of the Madras province was one of the Presidency Armies in British India. The unit of the British Colonial Auxiliary Forces was based in Madras (now known as Chennai) in the state of Tamil Nadu.

On 1st October 1920, the Madras Artillery Volunteers was re-designated as the No. 5 (Madras) Field Company. Later on 23rd June 1928, the regiment was re-structured and reformed as the No. 1 (Madras) Signal Company.
