Legend of Komrelly Mallanna Temple
An interesting story about the central deity of Komrelly Mallanna Temple, Mallikarjuna Swamy has been mentioned by Oggu Katha. According to the story the Lord had married goddess Medallamma for which he had to endure harsh situations inflicted upon by the goddess"s brothers. The story however, does not find its mention in any script.
Construction of Komrelly Mallanna Temple
The entrance gate of the Komrelly Mallanna Temple houses the images of Mallanna, Golla Kethamma and Medalamma. Devotees especially from the Kuruma and Yadava communities frequent the temple to offer worship to the Lord and receive his blessings. The Oggu Katha singers recurrently visit the temple singing tales of Mallanna.
Komrelly Mallanna Temple celebrates the Shivaratri festival on a grand scale drawing hordes of pilgrims from different sections of the society. Pedda Patnam is chiefly celebrated during the festive period. Konda Pochamma temple located in the vicinity of the temple is also frequented by devotees.
