Keezhaittirukkaattuppalli Temple is located at Keezhaittirukkattuppalli near Mayiladuturai, Poompuhaar and the deity worshipped here is Shiva. This Shivastalam located adjacent to Poompuhaar and Tiruvenkaadu is known as Keezhtirukkaattuppalli to distinguish it from Melaittirukkaattuppalli near Thanjavur. Keezhaittirukkaattuppalli is considered to the 12th in the series of Tevara Stalangal on the northern banks of the river Kaveri.

Legends: The gods offered have prayed to Shiva and to relieve Indra of the sin of having slain the demon Vriddirasuran. Bhramma is said to have created 10 Shivalingams here and worshipped Shiva.

The Temple: The manner in which the temple is constructed is said to cause a sound resembling the sea to be heard in the Dakshinamurthy shrine. At the four corners surrounding the temple are four theerthams. There are shrines to Shiva in the form of two Shiva Lingams referred to as Muniyeswarar and Bhramhesar. There are also shrines dedicated to Skanda, Bhairavar and Surya. Sambandar is said to have visited here after visiting Tiruchaaikaadu at Poompuhaar.

Festivals: The festival image of Shiva is brought here from Tiruvenkaadu in procession mounted on a horse on the 2nd day of the month of Thai (Capricorn).
