Karan Kuntal or Earrings are enumerated among the various articles produced at the churning of the ocean. These articles were taken by Indra and given to Aditi, the daughter of Daksha and wife of Kasyapa. The earrings were stolen by Naraka, son of the Earth, and conveyed by him to Pragjyotisha, which was an impenetrable, formidable and unassailable city of the Asuras. Krishna attacked the place, over came all opposition, slew Naraka & recovered the jeweled earrings. On returning to the heaven of the gods he restored them to Aditi.
