Kaichinam Temple

This temple is located atnear Tiruvarur, Tirutturaippundi. The deity is Shiva.

Kaichinam Temple is regarded as the 122nd in the series of Tevara Stalams south of the river Kaveri.

Legends: Indra, worshiped here. Finger imprints of Indra are seen on this Shivalingam made of earth and hence the name Kaichinnam. Drinabindu muni also worshipped here. Indra was relieved of his afflictions after worshipping here, and was blessed with a vision of Tyagarajar. Agastyar was also blessed here.

Temple: This small temple is a maadakkoyil, built at an elevation. It has two prakarams and has a Rajagopuram and many vimanams. Indra Theertham and the Vajra Theertham tanks are situated to the North and to the south of this temple. There is a shrine dedicated to Rishabha Dakshinamurthy here as in Tiruvaimur. The Utsavamoorthy is of Tyagarajar. There is a shrine here to Mahavishnu, where an image discovered while excavating an arable tract of land belonging to the temple.

Festivals: Bhrammotsavam is celebrated in the month of Vaikasi while Arudra Darisanam, Panguni Uthiram, Skanda Sashti and Navaratri are the other festivals celebrated through the year.
