Jaitak Fort, Sirmaur District, Himachal PradeshThe historical Jaitak Fort is located in the Sirmaur district about 15 km to the north of Nahan in the state of Himachal Pradesh. With a stunning view of the surrounding countryside, the location of the Jaitak Fort is strategic, standing tall at an elevation of 1,479 m.

History of Jaitak Fort
Situated atop the Jaitak Hills, the Jaitak Fort is claimed to have been built using the remnants of the destroyed Nahan Fort. In 1810, Gurkha leader, Ranjor Singh Thapa along with his men had attacked and ransacked the Nahan Fort and Palace and used these materials to construct the Jaitak Fort.

It was here in the Jaitak Fort that the Gurkhas fought against the British forces. The Nepali Army, led by Kaji Amar Singh Thapa fought bravely and could defeat the British and Sirmaur joint army.
