Jain Temples in Mehgaon
Situated at the Barason in Mehgaon Tehsil, Jain Temples augment the aura of the place.
The temple of Lord Mahavira is situated at Barason in Mehgaon tehsil. According to Jain tradition, it is among the Atishya kshetra, i.e. a place where Lord Mahavira visited during his journey after getting Kaivalya (ultimate realisation), and other miraculous happenings took place. It is situated 14 km from Bhind town.
Other Atishya kshetra Jain temples are Pavai near Bhind town and Barahi, which is 20 km from Bhind at the Bhind-Etawah district border on the banks of the Chambal. However, the only means of transport are the `tanga` (horse-pulled cart) and a personal vehicle.
