Jagannath Temple is located in Hyderabad city of the south Indian state Telangana where the Hindu God Jagannath is revered. It lies in the posh suburbs of Banjara Hills, just besides the Telangana Bhavan. The Oriya community of the city has constructed this modern temple. Architecture of Jagannath Temple
Jagannath Temple was built in the year 2009 and is a replica of the original Jagannath Temple of Puri in Odisha in context of design. However it is quite smaller than the one in Puri. It spans over an area of 3000 square yard. The temple has a magnificent facade and is amongst the must visit tourist places of Hyderabad. The peak of the temple, also known as Shikharam, is the most impressive structure of the temple. It rises to a height of about 70 feet. The temple has been structured with sand stones brought from the state of Odisha which has rendered a red colour to the temple. However the sanctum sanctorum is constructed with plain brick from inside. About 60 sculptors have carved the spectacular architecture of Jagannath Temple. Intricate and iconic carvings adorn the exterior of Jagannath Temple. Apart from being a famed religious place, the temple also flaunts its spectacular artistry.
Deity of Jagannath Temple
The presiding deities of Jagannath Temple are Lord Krishna, his brother Balarama and sister Subhadra. Shri Jagannath, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu or an avatar of Lord Krishna, is the lord of the universe who is regarded as the supreme solace and saves innumerable devotees all around the globe. Over years Lord Jagannath is worshipped by countless devotees. The temple premises also houses five small temples which are dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi (to the right), Lord Shiva (in the front), Lord Ganesha (which is to the left of main entrance) and two more shrines for Navagraha and Lord Hanuman. There are three entrances of the temple among which the main one opens exactly in front of the main temple.
