Jacqueline Fernandez shot to fame through her movie Murder 2 where she played the role of lead protagonist. She is also actively involved in social work.

Early Life of Jacqueline Fernandez
Jacqueline Fernandez was born on 11th August 1985 to a Sri Lankan father, who is Burgher by ethnicity, and a Malaysian mother. She spent most of her childhood in Bahrain from the age of three. She completed her graduation in mass communication from the University of Melbourne, Australia. After returning to Sri Lanka she started working as a journalist and model.

Career of Jacqueline Fernandez
In the year 2006 Jacqueline was crowned as Miss Sri Lanka Universe. In the following year she made her first commercial appearance through a music video of Sri Lankan singing sensations Bathiya and Santhush. This paved her way for further modelling assignments and she arrived in India for the same where she eventually received a film offer. She also anchored one of Sri Lanka`s business programs namely `Lanka Business Report`. Jacqueline writes a weekly column for `Daily Mirror`, a national newspaper. She also owns a non profit organization which focuses on empowering the underprivileged.

Jacqueline Fernandez made her Bollywood debut with the movie Aladin in which she appeared alongside Riteish Deshmukh. Her performance in the movie received mixed reviews. Her second venture also got her mixed reviews. In Sajid Khan`s film Housefull Jacqueline made a cameo appearance in the song `Dhanno`. The song was a big hit and earned the actress recognition in the film industry. Her next venture was Mahesh Bhatt`s thriller Murder 2 which became a huge blockbuster. In the movie she appeared along with Emraan Hashmi and played the lead role. Jacqueline received positive reviews for her performance and gained huge popularity. In 2012 she appeared in another Bollywood flick Housefull 2 where she was featured along with Asin Thottumkal, Akshay Kumar and Rishi Kapoor. The movie did well at box office and the actress also received appreciations for her performance. Her 2013 release was Race 2 alongside John Abraham, Amisha Patel, Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. Jacqueline was featured in a negative role in the movie and got appreciating reviews. In the same year she appeared in an item number in Prabhu Deva`s movie Ramaiya Vasta Vaiya.

Other Ventures of Jacqueline Fernandez
Jacqueline Fernandez supports several charitable organizations and also performs in stage shows. In 2013 she wrote a letter to the consulate general of the Philippines in Colombo, Sri Lanka on behalf of people for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia for the transfer of the elephant Mali from the inadequate Manila Zoo to a lush sanctuary. She also participated in a fund raising event for Pratham NGO which works for children`s primary education. She has performed in Apsara Awards, IIFA Awards, Temptations Reloaded and 55th Filmfare Awards. She has also appeared in several commercials and endorsements.

Achievements of Jacqueline Fernandez
In 2010 Jacqueline Fernandez won International Indian Film Academy Awards for Best Female Debut for her movie Aladin. For the same movie she also won Stardust Awards. The actress also received Asianet Film Awards for Most Stylish Bollywood Actor and 12th Teacher`s Achievement Awards for Artistic Versatility, both in year 2013.
