Indroda Nature Park, GujaratIndroda Nature Park, situated in Indroda village near Gandhinagar in the Indian state Gujarat, is a popular tourist destination which hosts a vast variety of flora and fauna. It is a heaven for nature lovers and is inhabited by several birds, reptiles, animals and plants. Tourists from all around the globe visit this park. It lies along the bank of river Sabarmati or it can also be stated that the river passes through the park. During monsoon, the river overflows across the banks. Indroda Nature Park spans over an area of about 468 hectares on both sides of Sabarmati River.

History of Indroda Nature Park
In the year 1970 the forest department of Gandhinagar conceived a plan for reclaiming the land around the Sabarmati River and maintaining it with plantation work. With their efforts the land gradually became a manmade forest, entirely adorned with natural beauty and inhabited by a large number of shrubs, trees, reptiles, animals and birds. Exquisite landscapes surround the park which has been named as Indroda Nature Park.

Tourism in Indroda Nature Park
Through years, the flora and fauna of the park has increased greatly in number and has diversified substantially. Many rare and endangered species of plants grow here. It has undulating lands along with low lying levels of the Sabarmati River which renders a scenic charm to the place. The park also provides facilities for research and interpretation of floral and faunal species. A natural history museum stands at the park. The park also blocks the carbon emission and maintains the ecological balance in the environment of the forest and the nearby urban areas.

Sections of Indroda Nature Park
Indroda Nature Park has been divided into various sections where the tourist can enjoy different activities.

Dinosaur Eggs Hatchery
A part of Indroda Nature Park has been developed as dinosaur eggs hatchery. It hosts various collections of skin impressions, bones, eggs, skeletons and coprolites. Many of these have been collected from Rahioli in Kheda district of the state. Rahioli is the site of one of the largest egg hatcheries in the world.

Zoo
Indroda Nature Park also hosts a zoo section which shelters a vast variety of animals including Antelopes, Porcupines, Jackal, Blackbuck, Sambar, Leopard, Tiger and many more. These animals have been kept in large enclosures in natural habitats.

Aviary
Indroda Nature Park is blessed with a huge variety of exotic avifauna. Around 201 species of birds can be spotted here which dwell in the park in different seasons. During the breeding season 65 varieties can be located. There is a walk-in aviary where 31 varieties of birds have been kept for the avid bird watchers.

Other Sections
A separate section has been created in Indroda Nature Park for the reptiles. Most common species found in this section include Tortoises, Crocodiles, Snakes and many others. Marine section comprises dolphins and whales along with replicas and skeletons of marine animals. There is also a botanical and geological section having vast and elaborate arrangements.
