Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, AssamHollongapar Gibbon Wildlife sanctuary is located in Jorhat district in the Indian state of Assam. It is also popularly known as Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is covers an area of 20.98 sq. kms. It has been named after the only Ape, Hoolock Gibbon found in India. Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife sanctuary is situated amongst semi-evergreen forests and evergreen patches amidst tea gardens and human settlements.

Flora and fauna of Hollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary
The sanctuary houses a variety of animals and birds. Visitors from far off places visit this sanctuary. The different types of mammals that are found here are Elephant, Leopard, Tiger, Pangolin, Assamese macaque, Pig tailed macaque, Rhesus macaque, Stump tailed macaque, Capped langur, Slow loris, Jungle cat, Indian civet, Giant squirrel, Barking deer, Sambar, Wild pig, Squirrels.

The sanctuary also houses many birds like Indian Pied Horn Bill, Osprey, Hill Myna, Kalij pheasant etc. Apart from these are many other reptiles like Indian Python, Common Monitor Lizard, Indian Tent Turtle and Indian Cobra in the sanctuary. Hollongapar the best time to visit the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is during the months of June to July and February to March.

Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary can be reached by road from Mariani Rly Junction. It is only 5 kms away, from Rowriah Airport (Jorhat) it is 25 kms and from Jorhat town it is 20 kms.
