Harish Uthaman is an Indian film actor, who has worked mostly in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. He made his debut in films in the year 2010 with the Tamil film "Thaa", portraying the lead role. He then went on to play villainous roles in movies. Director Suseenthiran"s film "Pandiya Naadu" became the turning point in Harish Uthaman"s career. The actor received critical acclaim for his portrayal of the villainous character in the film. At present, Harish Uthaman is regarded as one of the favourite villains of Tamil and Telugu film industry.
Early Life of Harish Uthaman
Harish Uthaman was born on 5th April 1982. He was born and brought up in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He did his schoolings at Rukmani Kannan Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore. After completing his schoolings, he joined Dr GRD College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore to pursue his graduation. Initially, he worked as a cabin crew for 3 years at Paramount Airways and then moved to British Airways where he worked for 3 years as well. Harish also worked in commercials in Chennai until director Suriya Prabhakaran offered him the lead role in his film "Thaa".
Career of Harish Uthaman
It was director Suriya Prabhakaran who offered Harish Uthaman the lead role in his low budget romantic Tamil film "Thaa". The film released in 2010 but went unnoticed at the box office. The film was later screened at the Tamil Film Festival in Norway, where Harish Uthaman won the Best Newcomer Award. He met director Radha Mohan, who cast him for his subsequent bilingual film "Gouravam", for the first time at the festival. Harish"s second film "Gouravam" released in both Tamil and Telugu, in the year 2013, where he was seen playing the negative character for the first time. He next appeared in the Malayalam film "Mumbai Police", released in the same year.
Suriya Prabhakaran recommended Harish Uthaman to director Suseenthiran, who cast Uthaman as the villain in his film "Pandiya Naadu". The film released in 2013 and Harish"s performance earned critical acclaim, becoming a major turning point in the actor"s career. He then continued playing villainous roles in Tamil as well as Telugu films, featuring in films "Meagamann", "Power", "Aagadu" and "Pisasu" in 2014 and films "Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka", "Jil", "Thani Oruvan Sooraj", "Paayum Puli" and "Pandaga Chesko", released in 2015. In 2015, Harish also starred in Mahesh Babu"s blockbuster Telugu venture "Srimanthudu", portraying the villainous role Radha.
In 2016, Harish has appeared in Telugu projects "Express Raja", alongside Sharwanand in the lead and "Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha", alongside Nani in the lead. He has also appeared in Suseenthiran"s Tamil thriller production "Vil Ambu", also released in early 2016. His 2017 project includes the movies "Dora", "Mister" and "Rubaai" directed by Suseenthiran. In 2018, he appeared in films like "Kavacham"," Naa Peru Surya, Naa Illu India" and "Vinaya Vidheya Rama" in 2019.
