Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary is open throughout the year. This sanctuary is spotted with a wide-ranging topography of forests. The forest is dry, mixed and deciduous and flat grasslands around Gandhi Sagar Dam attract the adventure lovers. Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary offers plentiful opportunities of sighting a variety of wildlife. The principal trees found in the Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary are Khair (Acacia catechu), Salai, Kardhai, Dhawda, Tendu, Palash etc. The predominant wild animal species inhabits in the Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary are the deer, of which the most easily sighted are chinkara or Indian gazelle, common langur, peacock, otter and crocodile.
Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary also has some ancient temples which are of worth visiting. Gandhisagar Wildlife Sanctuary has many places of historical, archaeological and religious significances. These are Chaurasigarh, Chaturbhujnath temple, Bhadkaji rock paintings, Narsinghjhar, Hinglajgarh Fort and Taxakeshwar temple. Chaturbhujnath temple is located at about eight kilometres from Gandhi sagar dam. Near the premises, there is a statue of Lord Vishnu in this temple. The site of Bhadkaji rock paintings of period about 1400 years old is located very near to Chaturbhujnath temple.
The major archaeological important place is Hinglajgarh Fort located near the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary. The Chambal River and the Gandhi Sagar dam are also very good tourist spots.
