Duty of the Commander-In-Chief

Duty of a Commander-in-chief stresses that he should have a complete knowledge of the entire army which includes the cavalry, infantry as well as the chariots and other minute specification of the army. Having trained in skilfully handling of all kinds of weapons and leading horses, chariots, and elephants, the commander-in-chief is supposed to be most spontaneous and responding to the call of emergency. As such he is supposed to be capable enough to assess and order either advance or retreat of the army according to the war situation.

Duty of commander in chief shall also be solely responsible in assessing the right kind of field, appropriate time and atmosphere, the strength of his army, how to sow seeds of dissention in enemies army with united mind, how to collect his own scattered forces, how to scatter the compact enemy`s army, how to assail a fortress and when to actually make an advance. As such being a person of discipline and regimentation which the army has to follow, the commander in chief shall then assess the strength and weakness of his own army and then designate the regiment with separate names of troops, trumpets, boards, banners and flags.

Thus, the duty of commander in chief shall be solely responsible to possess complete control on the battle field which shall include his supervision on all the other superintendents like those of cavalry, infantry etc.
