Direct Path in Tantrism

The Direct Path also known as the third path in Tantrism that seeks to attain the goal of self realization. It is at times regarded as the higher part of the right handed approach. On this path the yogi surrenders outer ritualistic forms of worship as they gets to know the flaws in it. Outward, formal and substance oriented action keeps the mind bound to the external world. Although these actions purify our mind they cannot lead a person on the path of realization. The yogi sacrifices various forms of internal worship methods such as chanting of mantras as these attach the person to mental activities. The highest form of yogi just inquires into his nature and tries to be one with the True Self. This is the real meaning of searching out the lotus feet of the Divine Mother.

Direct Path is the path of Self inquiry or Atma Vichara. This is also considered as the highest Vedantic path. It traces back the thought to the point of pure awareness. It helps in discovering the true nature that transcends all objectivity. As it the highest path it is not easily achieved by all. Yogis feel that unless one becomes proficient in the practice of mantras it is not possible to gain proper concentration for attaining the True Self. The genuine Tantrist is always of the High or Direct Path and the practices promise that Nirvana can be achieved. Thus the chief goal of this Direct Path is in the attainment of the Self Realisation.
