Shri Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra is a Jain pilgrimage centre located in Jaipur. It is an Atishay Kshetra i.e. Place of Miracles. The temple is dedicated to Lord Padmaprabha, the 6th Jain Tirthankara.
History Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra
According to the history of Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra, the idol of Lord Padmaprabha was unearthed while digging for foundation of a house by Moola Jat. The idol was discovered on the Vaishakh Shukla V.S. 2001. The idol is associated with many miracles and legends. It is said that before the idol was discovered the entire village suffered for various problems of water and diseases. However, after the discovery of the idol miraculously all the problems related to water disappeared. Even the death of animals because of different diseases also ended. After many years the villagers were blessed with production of rich crop. Thus the miraculous power of the idol was soon realized by the people. It is also believed that the idol fulfills the desires of the devotees visiting the temple and offering prayers to it.
Temple of Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra
The Temple of Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra houses the beautiful idol of Lord Padmaprabha. The idol has that has been magnificently carved. The idol is 2 feet and 4 inches in height and is made of white stone. The idol is seated in a padmasana posture. The wide field for the construction of the temple was provided by a charitable Businessman Shri Mahorilalji Godha. The beautiful and gorgeous temple has been made of marble. It is adorned with magnificently designed spire that is 85 feet height. The Foundation Stone of this temple was laid by Sir Seth Shri Bhagchandji Soni of Ajmer. The idol of Bhagwan Padmaprabhu has been installed in the middle of this circular temple on a high shrine. Apart from this temple there are 10 more shrines located here. These temples are dedicated to Lord Bahubali, Lord Mahavira, Lord Padamprabha, Bhagwan Rishabh Dev and Lord Naminath etc. In front of the main temple in the open field a colossus of Lord Padamprabhu can be seen. The beautiful idol is 27 feet in height. The feet images of the Lord are also installed here.
The Temple of Digambara Jain Atishaya Kshetra organises annual gatherings on Vaishakh Shukla. The day of salvation of Lord Padmaprabha is also celebrated on Phalguna Krishna. The annual procession and functions are also celebrated on the Dashehara. The temple has provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims.
