History of Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award
Back in the year 1969, during the birth centenary of the legendary Indian cinema personality, Dadasaheb Phalke, this award was instituted for the very first time, to commemorate the contribution and to honour the distinguished contribution to the growth and promotion of the Indian film medium.

First Recipient of Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award
The first recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award was actress Devika Rani. That was just the beginning and since then, the award has been bestowed on some of the legendary personalities of the Indian film industry. Dadasaheb Phalke award for one particular year is offered during the end of the following year coupled with the National Film Award.
