This Ganesha stone temple is positioned right in the middle of the market, on the opposite bank of the Shipra river, dating back to 11th and 12th centuries AD, built during the time of Paramaras rule of Malwa (Madhya Pradesh).
The exquisitely carved stone pillars in the assembly hall and the white shrine define the age-old inviolability of the temple. The Ganesha idol enshrined in this temple is conjectured to be `swayambhu` (built by itself). Also called Vigneshwara, the moderator of grief, Ganesha is always the first to be worshipped in the Hindu pantheon, for fear of His bestowing obstacle in the path to glory. His consorts, Riddhi and Siddhi flank Chintaman, the do-gooder of all worries. Locals refer to Ganesha as Chintaman, `the assuror of freedom from worldly anxieties`.
