Cheppad Village, KeralaCheppad is a stunning village nestled in the Indian state of Kerala. Earlier, it was known as "Cheppukadu" where "cheppu" means a small container and "kadu" means a small forest. The village is mainly dominated by the Hindus and the Christian community is the second largest community here. Agriculture is the main occupation of the villagers. Arecanut, cardamom, sugar and pepper are the important crops grown here. The official languages of the village are Malayalam and English.

Location of Cheppad Village
It is located at Alleppy district (presently called Alappuzha) in the southern state of Kerala. It is situated 45 Km north of Kollam and is about mid-way between Kochi and Thiruvananathapuram on NH 4. It falls under Karthikapally taluka. The nearby villages of Cheppad are Arattupuzha, Haripad, Kumarapuram, Karthikappally, Chingoli, Pathiyoor, Keerikkad, Muthukulam, Kandalloor, Puthuppally and Krishnapuram.

Facilities of Cheppad Village
Cheppad has facilities like national thermal power station, government medical college, modernized railway station and hotels with modern amenities. It also has the new National Highway 47 development which provides access to all major cities. With all these facilities, Cheppad is expected to turn into a town in the future.

Attractions of Cheppad Village
The village has a well-known church, which is the major attraction of the place. It is the Orthodox Syrian Christian Church popularly known as Cheppad Church. Dedicated to St George, this church has porches and portico built in the style of typical Hindu temples. With mural paintings and woodcarvings, this church attracts a large number of devotees. Vettikkulangara Bhagavathy Temple, noted for its wooden sculptures, is another attraction of Cheppad.

This beautiful village is blessed with a good network of railways and airways. The nearest railhead is the Kayamkulam railway station. The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport.
