Chandipur, which is mostly known as the Chandipur-on-sea, is a beach resort in Baleshwar District of Odisha.

Chandipur is located on the Bay of Bengal and is approximately 16 kilometres from the Baleswar Railway Station. Chandipur is located at 21.47 degree North to 87.02 degree East. It has an average elevation of 3 m (9.8 ft). This town is 51.330 acres (0.20773 km2) in size.
Geography of Chandipur
Chandipur is unique in that the water rises up to 5 kilometres during the ebb tide. Due to its unique circumstances, the beach supports bio-diversity. Horseshoe crab is also found here on the beach towards Mirzapur.
Climate of Chandipur
Chandipur enjoys the cool and temperate climate in winters, but summers are too hot only in day times. In summer the temperature is from 25-40 degree Celsius but in winter its 17-26 degree Celsius.

The uniqueness of Chandipur is that twice a day its waters recede from the shore a good 5-km away, giving water revellers the ultimate pleasure of walking into its shallow depths with fearless abandon. The beach at Chandipur offers gorgeous views of dynamic seascapes and timeless dawns. The other places of tourist interest around Balasore District and Baleshwar District are Remuna, Panchalingeswar, Aradi and Chandaneswar Temple which is very near from Digha and Tajpur, located in Midnapore District in West Bengal.

Chandipur is connected with the airways, roadways and the railways connected through Howrah, West Bengal, Kolkata, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The nearest Airport is Bhubaneswar, which is 214-kms from Chandipur. The nearest railhead Balasore is on the South Eastern Railway. All Calcutta-Madras rail routes of South-eastern railways touch Balasore. From Howrah, Balasore could be accessible by Dhauli Express, Falaknama Express, East-Coast Express, Puri and Jagannath Express, at different points of time of the day. There are several local trains available as well. Chandipur is connected by road to Balasore 16-kms, Bhubaneshwar 214-kms, Cuttack 230-kms, Kolkata 240-kms etc. The Madras bound National Highway No-5 linking Calcutta- Balasore-Cuttack-Bhubaneswar is the main connector by road. There are several other bye-routes too such as Kolaghat-Digha-Jaleswar routes and Belda route. It takes approx 7-8 hours to reach Chandipur from Kolkata.
