Namrata Shirodkar, Bollywood ActressNamrata Shirodkar Ghattamaneni is more commonly known as Namrata Shirodkar was born on 22nd January 1972 in Mumbai. Her elder sister is Shilpa Shirodkar who is also a well-known actress in Hindi cinema. She is the grand daughter of famous Marathi actress Meenakshi Shirodkar. A model turned actress, Namrata has worked in different movies with elegance and professionalism. She won the Miss India contest in the year 1993. She also represented India in the Miss Universe contest pageant and was ranked sixth. She had also represented in Miss Asia Pacific contest where she was the first runner-up.

Namrata Shirodkar`s Film Career
Namrata Shirodkar made her acting debut with the movie "Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai" in a cameo role in the year 1998. She starred opposite Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna. Her probably the biggest box-office success came with the movie, "Vaastav" where she was cast opposite to Sanjay Dutt. Her performance in the movie was well appreciated and widely acclaimed. In addition to Namrata`s intense role in "Vaastav", Namrata Shirodkar has also appeared in different movies in supporting cast. Such movies include "Pukar", "Hera Pheri" and "Astitva". These movies did reasonable well at the box-office. She was also nominated for the IIFA Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance in "Pukar". In the year 2004 she played the role of Jaya Bakshi in the movie "Bride and Prejudice". She portrayed the character of Aishwarya Rai`s elder sister in the movie. The film was a hit overseas particularly in the UK. Some of her notable movies include "Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai", "Kachche "Dhaage, "Aaghaaz", "Albela", "Tehzeeb" and so on. She did "Lajja" which was basically a woman-oriented film. Directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, this was her second venture with him. She was starred opposite to some of the noted and distinguished celebrities like Manisha Koirala, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Mahima Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rai.

Namrata Shirodkar`s Personal
Namrata got married with the renowned Tollywood actor Mahesh Babu on February 10, 2005 and is settled in Hyderabad. She has since left the industry after her marriage. The couple had their first child, a boy named Gowtham Gattamaneni who was born on August 31, 2006.
