Originally known as Reema Lamba this very talented actress was born in Rohtak District situated in the Indian state of Haryana on 24th October 1981. She is famous in the industry for her openness and has a huge fan following who are crazy behind this bold attitude of hers. Prior to making an entry into the glamour world she had served the aviation industry by being of the most gracious airhostesses. It was during this time that she also tied the knot with a pilot named Karan Singh Gill but unfortunately their marital relation did not last long. Academically Mallika Sherawat is a product of Miranda House, which is situated in the capital of the Indian subcontinent and has obtained a degree in the subject of Philosophy from the esteemed institution. A true blue `Jatni` from Haryana she was determined to make it big in the glamour world since a very tender age.

Mallika Sherawat`s Film Career
Mallika made her way and bagged the Bollywood venture Khwaish by Govind Nihalni. This Bollywood flick gave her aspirations an extra edge. The second venture of Mallika Sherawat, Murder turned out to be a great commercial success. This film was inspired by the Hollywood blockbuster Unfaithful and is also counted as one of the most passionate movies ever made in Bollywood. She went on to win a small role in the movie of a Hollywood filmmaker Jackie Chan titled as `The Myth` and here also she appeared in much bold attires. Mallika`s next film Pyar Ke Side Effects` starring Rahul Bose went on to be 2006 Bollywood chartbuster. The movie unleashed the actress of an item girl to a sought after heroine in Bollywood.

Mallika Sherawat, Bollywood Actress The latest project of Mallika Sherawat was in the Himesh Reshammiya starrer `Aap Ka Suroor-The Real Love Story. In 2007 she appeared in Mani Ratnam`s Guru in a song "Mayya-Mayya" which enjoyed a soaring popularity. In the same year she was seen in multi starrer movie Welcome along with Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and others. She had other releases Ugli Aur Pagli and Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam which did not fair well at the box office.

In the International domain Mallika has a recent release, Hissss co-starring Irrfan Khan and directed by Jennifer Lynch. She promoted the movie at the Cannes Film Festival 2010 with live snakes.

Sherawat won the 2008 Renaissance Artist Award at the 16th Annual Diversity Awards held in California. On 14 August 2009, Sherawat received Honorary Citizenship of Los Angeles for her career achievements and charitable efforts. In the recent past she has also been voted one of the most beautiful woman among the hundred most beautiful people of the Asian continent. This honour was bestowed to her by the most popular fashion and beauty magazine of Hong Kong called `Cover`.
