Bengal Native Infantry
Bengal Native Infantry was as a part of the Bengal Army. During the most of the troops of the Bengal Native Infantry regiments participated in the revolt against the British.

Bengal Native Infantry, Bengal ArmyThe Bengal Native Infantry was incorporated as a part of the Bengal Army, under the British East India Company, before the commencement of the Great Revolt of 1857. The Bengal Army was the armed forces of Bengal Presidency and was amongst the 3 main Presidency Armies in British India. The infantry regiments of British Indian Army went through several modifications of numbering through their existence. The conventional establishment of the regiments of Presidency Armies in British India was done through a chain of command. In this hierarchy of the regiments, the 1st Regiment was the earliest and was considered as the highest number was provided to the newest.

Later in the year 1764, the regiments of the Bengal Native Infantry were re-oganised and renumbered based on the order of the seniority of the captain of each division. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, also known as the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, most of the troops of the Bengal Native Infantry regiments participated in the revolt against the British East India Company.

The Bengal Native Infantry consisted of a number of regiments that served under Bengal Army during wartime. The chronology of the regiments are mentioned as follows-
