Ballalaraayana Durga Fort is located in the Chikmagalur District of Karnataka. It was built by the wife of Veera Ballala I, the king of Hoysala Kingdom.

The fort was built by the wife of Veera Ballala I, the king of Hoysala Kingdom during the 12th century. It was built in the Karnata Dravida style of architecture, which was popular in Hoysala Kingdom. There is an ancient Kalabyraveshwara Temple below the fort. According to the historians, Ballala I and his wife used to visit the temple every day. This 1509 meters high fort is also a popular destination for trekking. The fort has mostly now been ruined.

The best time to visit the fort is from middle of November to May. Chikmagalur can be reached by train through Chakmagalur Railway Station. Its nearest airport is at Mangalore. It can also be reached by road via Bangalore. Regular buses are available from there. National Highway 16 connects Chikmagalur to other major cities of India.
