Ashwin Kakumanu, Tamil Film ActorAshwin Kakumanu is an Indian film actor primarily appearing in movies of Tamil cinema. He is best known for his role as Ganesh, a police officer, in Venkat Prabhu`s Tamil action thriller "Mankatha", which was released in 2011. Biriyani, Zero, Vedalam, Megha, Thiri are some of the films done by Ashwin Kakumanu. He was born on July 5, 1987 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Career of Ashwin Kakumanu
Ashwin Kakumanu initially auditioned unsuccessfully for a role in Tamil romantic musical film "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa". The director Gautham Menon was close to giving him the role, however, the producers of the film insisted on placing a popular mass hero as the male lead, thus finally they hired Tamil film actor Simbu. But Ashwin was noticed by the assistant directors of the film and they recommended him to Gautham Menon for the role in the crime thriller "Nadunisi Naaygal". It was his debut film in which he played a small role as Arjun, the boyfriend of Sameera Reddy`s character in the film.

Ashwin Kakumanu, Tamil Film ActorAshwin was later signed on to portray a role in Venkat Prabhu`s "Mankatha", which featured an ensemble cast including Ajith Kumar, Vaibhav Reddy and Arjun. Director Prabhu was impressed with a short film which Ashwin had directed and acted in. In "Mankatha", Ashwin played a local Dharavi police officer, replacing Ganesh Venkatraman who had pulled out of the film. The film released to critical and commercial acclaim in August 2011, and Ashwin gained recognition for his portrayal. He was next featured in A. R. Murugadoss` "7aum Arivu", in a supporting role of a young scientist who helps in putting together a plan alongside the characters played by Suriya and Shruti Haasan. He also appeared in a supporting role again in Gautham Menon`s Hindi romantic drama "Ekk Deewana Tha", featuring Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson.

Ashwin Kakumanu"s first leading role was of Balakrishnan in the 2013 comedy film "Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara", which received highly positive reviews and was declared a Blockbuster at the box office. He then starred in the 2014 romantic thriller "Megha" and the 2015 action film "Vedalam" in a supporting role. In 2016, Ashwin was seen in "Zero", a supernatural thriller featuring him as a social worker. It opened to mixed reviews from critics. Some of Ashwin"s other films are "Thiri", "Thollaikatchi", "Nila Nila Odi Vaa", "Idhu Vedhalam Sollum Kathai" etc.
