Anbilalanturai Temple is the 57th in the series of Tevara Stalams located north of the river Kaveri. Legend: Bhrama and Vaageesamuni worshipped here, hence the name Satyavageeswarar or Bhramapureeswarar. A five-tiered Rajagopuram, and has two prakarams. The outer one has a Nandavanam, and the inner one has mandapams which are the structural elements of this temple. The sanctum and the ambal shrine face the east. There is a niche image of Vishnu flanked by Surya and Chandra. There are stone images portraying the legends associated with the temple on the exterior walls. Inscriptions from the Chola and Hoysala periods are seen here. This temple was rebuilt during Parantaka Chola`s period before which it was a two-tiered temple. There are sculptures in the mandapam in front of the sanctum.
