. The town has been carved out of the East Kameng District
of the state along with five administrative units, which are Pakke-Kessang, Seijosa, Pijiriang, Passa Valley, and Dassing-Passo with district headquarters at Lemmi. Pakke Kessang is located 90 km north of East Kameng District and 190 km east of Itanagar
. It is one of the 60 constituencies of the Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh. Papum Reserve Forest is located in this Pakke Kessang valley.
