Medigeshi Fort is a well built rocky fort located on top of a hill in a small village in the Tumkuru district of Karnataka. The village is also named Medigeshi and the fort is a famous tourist attraction. Situated at a distance of 120 kms from Bengaluru, Medigeshi Fort can be reached through a trek along Madhugiri Fort. This fort is yet another one of the hill-top forts which has become a favourite trek off the city with the locals.
Medigeshi Fort is a historical fort that has seen many battles during its peak of success. The fort is named after the wife of a local tribal chief, Nagga Reddi. The fort is divided into three sections - the base of the fort, a middle lake and garden and high perched fortifications. Most of the fort walls remain even today, through its ruins.
