Demography of Bhedaghat
As of 2001 India census, Bhedaghat had a population of 1840. Males constitute 53 percent of the population and females 47 percent. Bhedaghat has an average literacy rate of 63 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent; with male literacy of 71 percent and female literacy of 53 percent. 16 percent of the population is under 7 years of age.
Tourist Attractions in Bhedaghat The major tourist attraction in Bhedaghat is a waterfall known as ‘Dhuandhar’, which looks like smoke coming out of the river. In a moonlit night, the travel between the marble rock mountains in a boat on the River Narmada is one of the popular tourist attractions in Bhedaghat. At one point, the mountains at both the sides come so close that monkeys are able to jump across them, hence the name ‘Bandar Kodini’. The Chaunsath Yogini temple, dedicated to the Goddess Durga is one of the four major extant temples containing carvings of 64 yogini, female yoga mystics. It was built in the 10th century under the Kalachuris.
Visiting Information of Bhedaghat The nearest airport and railway station serving the town of Bhedaghat are located at Jabalpur, around 33 km away. Jabalpur, being an important city in Madhya Pradesh, enjoys good connectivity with the rest of country. Government buses, cabs and autos are easily available from outside the airport and railway station of Jabalpur.
