Chambal Valley, consisted of massive sandstone, slate and limestone of pre-Cambrian age, is characterised by an undulating floodplain, gullies and ravines. Main landforms of the Chambal Valley are made of hillocks and plateaus. The Hadauti plateau in Rajasthan occurs in the upper catchment of the Chambal River to the southeast of the Mewar Plains. Badland topography is a characteristic feature of the Chambal valley. Chambal Valley is of pleistocene to sub-recent age. Four dams have been constructed under the Chambal Valley projects, which are located on the border of Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh. The dams are Gandhi Sagar Dam, Rana Pratap Sagar Dam, Jawahar Sagar Dam and Kota Barrage etc.
