![]() Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary Sri Lankamalleswara Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Kadapa district. It occupies an area of about 464.42 square kilometers (179.31 sq mi). It has the distinction of being the only habitat in the world which provides suitable habitat to Jerdon's Courser, a highly endangered bird species. Other inmates of the sanctuary are nearly 1400 plant species, dry deciduous mixed thorn forests, red sanders, panther, sloth bear, etc. Gundla Brahmeswara Sanctuary Gundla Brahmeswara Sanctuary is located on Gundla Brahmeswaram Plateau. It is spread over an area of about 1194 square kilometers and has undulating topography comprising of valleys and green plateaus. Gundlakamma River stretches across the sanctuary. It is a perennial river acting as a source of water for the animals in the sanctuary. Mixed deciduous forests and trees like teak, dalbergia, boswelia, etc surround this forest. This sanctuary provides shelter to langur, jungle cat, panther, etc. ![]() Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Kurnool district. It was established in the year 1988 in order to protect a critically endangered species called great Indian bustard. This sanctuary is spread over an area of about 6.14 square kilometers. This sanctuary is occupied by mixed forests, thorny bushes, foxes, jackals, bonnet macaques, etc. Sri Penusila Narasimha Wildlife Sanctuary Sri Penusila Narasimha Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Nellore district. This sanctuary is spread over an area of about 1030.85 square kilometers. It is noted for housing a unique and endangered forest type namely, dry evergreen forests. The fauna of this sanctuary comprises of panther, cheetal, nilgai, etc. Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary is located near Visakhapatnam. It was established in March 10, 1970 and is spread over an area of about 70.70 square kilometers (17,470 acres). The region has hilly terrain with steep slopes. This sanctuary comprises of dry evergreen forest mixed with scrub and meadows as a part of its flora. Its fauna comprises of Russell's viper, Indian cobra, chameleon, etc. Other Wildlife Sanctuaries of Andhra Pradesh Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary, Kolleru Wildlife Sanctuary, Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam Wildlife Sanctuary and Nellapattu Wildlife Sanctuary are some of the other Wildlife Sanctuaries of Andhra Pradesh. |
