Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is situated near a village named Avanigadda in the state of Andhra Pradesh, which is at a distance of 80 km from Vijaywada. The sanctuary spreads over an area of 196.81 sq. km into Guntur and Krishna district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, and because it is located on the estuary of the River Krishna, hence the name.

The thick mangrove forest of Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary provides the habitat to Jungle and Fishing Cat, Hyena, Fox, Bear, Spotted Deer, Samber, Cobra, Black Buck, Water Snake, Russel Viper, Garden Lizard, Rat Snake and Golden Tree Snake and also a good variety of birds including Crested Serpant Eagle, Indian Roller, Wagtails and Pipits. This makes the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect place for bird-watching.
