Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai
One of the hugely popular comedy soaps on Indian Television, ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ trace the life of an archetypal upper class family of Mumbai. ‘Tu Tu Main Main’ was another famed television comedy series that first aired on Doordarshan and later STAR Plus post 1996. Directed by Sachin Pilgaonkar, the show dealt with typical arguments and bickering between a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law, played by Reema Lagoo and Supriya Pilgaonkar respectively.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is another extremely successful television sitcom that went on-air on July 28, 2008 on SAB TV and still runs successfully amongst the audiences. Based on the column ‘Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma’ by columnist-journalist Taarak Mehta for Gujarati weekly magazine ‘Chitralekha’, the show was declared by Limca Book of Records as the longest running comedy show. It completed 2000 episodes on August 11, 2016.
