![]() Gurdwara Mattan Sahib Gurdwara Mattan Sahib is located in Mattan, a town and a notified area committee in Anantnag district. This Gurudwara is also known by the other name of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev. This Gurudwara was constructed in the memory of Guru Nanak. It is known that Guru Nanak Dev had held a discourse with Pandit Brahm Das, great Sanskrit scholar in Mattan. Guru Nanak Dev was so influential that Pandit Brahm Das decided to follow Guru Nanak. The original building of the Gurudwara was constructed by Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa at the request of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The present building replaced the older one during 1980s. The new building has a rectangular hall with the sanctum at one end and a verandah in front. Gurudwara Chhevin Patshahi Gurudwara Chhevin Patshahi is located in the Singhpura village, close to Baramulla district. This Gurudwara is also known by the other name of Thara Sahib. The architecture of this Gurudwara was initially very simple. During the 1930s, this Gurudwara was renovated. Bhai Vir Singh, a fervent Sikh is credited with the renovation of the Gurudwara. Gurudwara Bahu Fort Gurudwara Bahu Fort was constructed in the memory of an ardent Sikh devotee named Mahant Bachiter Singh. He belonged to Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch. This Gurudwara is considered to be one of the most easily accessible Gurudwaras of Jammu and Kashmir. Gurudwara Sant Mela Singh Dastkari Ashram This Gurudwara was constructed in the memory of the 4th Mahant of the Dera, Sant Mela Singh. Mahant Bachiter Singh, who is recognized as the 12th Mahant of Nangali Sahib Poonch Gurudwara is credited with the establishment of this Gurudwara. Spreading the goodness of Sikhism to the locals of Jammu was the aim with which this Gurudwara was established. Other Gurudwaras of Jammu and Kashmir Gurudwara Manji Sahib in Srinagar, Gurudwara Tapo Asthan Sant Baba Sunder Singh Ji Alibegh and Gurudwara Maharani Chand Kaur are some of the other Gurudwaras of Jammu and Kashmir. |
