The film opened to critical and commercial acclaim and also won Mahat the Edison Award for Best Debut Actor.
Post Mankatha, Mahat acted in Telugu films Backbench Student and Bunny n Cherry, both released in 2013. He was seen in a cameo appearance in Tamil films Biriyani and Vadacurry, and in a supporting role in action comedy-drama film Jilla, wherein he played Vignesh. In 2015, he was seen as the character Vijay in debutant directors P. B. Manjunaths Telugu ensemble Ladies & Gentlemen, which opened to positive reviews. He has last been seen in Telugu movies Badham Pistha, Panchadara Pachimirchi, Puri Sir I Love You and Tamil film Simbu.
