![]() Early Life of Kaushik Ganguly Kaushik Ganguly was born on 4th August 1968 in the city of Kolkata, West Bengal. He did his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur. He later joined Jadavpur University and earned a degree in Bengali literature. While studying at the university, he founded a theatre troupe with a noted Bengali actress Churni Ganguly, whom he later married, and Suman Mukhopadhyay, who later became a film director. Kaushik Ganguly is a double vision person. Career of Kaushik Ganguly Kaushik Ganguly began his career in 1987 as a screenwriter for the Bengali film industry. He began working for the Indian television channel ETV Bangla in the year 1995 and directed a few telefilms titled Aatithi, Ulka and Ushnatar Janye. Through his telefilms he depicted some of the rare subjects which could not find a place in the Bengali television productions before. His first feature film as a director was Waarish in 2004 featuring Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Debashree Roy. ![]() His 2009 directional venture was a low-budget comedy titled Brake Fail which derived its inspiration from the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Jackpot was his next release featuring Hiran and Koel Mallick which performed quite well at the box office. Renowned filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh played the lead role in Kaushik Ganguly's next film titled Arekti Premer Golpo in 2010 which was about a transgendered Jatra actor and a gay documentary filmmaker. The film won awards at the International Film Festival of India and the I-View Film Festival. In 2011 he directed Rang Milanti which opened to positive reviews. His next release was Laptop starring Rahul Bose, Churni Ganguly, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma, Ananya Chatterjee and Gaurav Chakrabarty. His 2012 film Shobdo explores the life of a Foley artist who produces sounds for living and finds his life inextricably intertwined with them. In the year 2013, Kaushik Ganguly won the Best Director award for his film Apur Panchali at the IFFI Awards.
