The Vamana Purana asserts that after the assassination of Hiranya Kashyapa, Lord Vishnu, in the avatar of 'Nrisingha' was engaged in a violent combat with Lord Shiva, who was then in the form of 'Sharabha'. It is said that they accidentally fell into a pond during their fierce fight. Narada, at that point of time was absorbed in deep meditation on the banks of that pond, under a 'peepal tree'. As soon as 'Devarsi' caught sight of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of 'chalurbhuja' while Lord Shiva emerged in the form of 'Linga'. Thereafter, Narada appreciated both of them and declared that from that day onwards the region would be known as 'Anyajanma'. He also added that if a person would take a bath in this pond and performed the rituals of 'Terpana' for his ancestors, he would attain complete wisdom and knowledge of senses. Amvajanma Tirtha is based about 5 km from Kaithal in the west in Dyoda Village. This article is a stub. You can enrich by adding more information to it.
