Hosdurg Fort is one of the most well known forts in the Indian state of Kerala
. It is located in Kanhangad in the district of Kasargod
. The geographical coordinates of Hosdurg Fort are latitude 12°18'33?N and longitude 75°05'38?E. The structure was constructed by Somashekara Nayaka, who belonged to the Keladi Nayaka dynasty of Ikkeri
The fort of Hosdurg was used as a stronghold and had round ramparts and fortifications. The Nithyanandasram, a world famous spiritual centre, is located around 4 km away from the site and has around 45 caves.
Hosdurg Fort lies in a ruined state at present. It is now open to all tourists and visitors and is under the possession of the Government of India
