Elambalur is surrounded by several villages like MGR Nagar, Indira Nagar, Samathuvapuram, Mahatma Gandhi Nagar and Netaji Nagar. The village is located at 11.26 degree 76 minutes North latitude and 78.88 degree 176 minutes East longitude at an elevation 436 ft from the sea level.

Economy of Elambalur
Agriculture is the main source of income for the inhabitants of Elambalur. The major crops grown here are paddy, sugarcane, tapioca, onion, maize, chillies, millets, groundnuts and cotton. Apart from these they also engage in mining, stone crushing and stone quarries. Many people are also employed as a labour in construction firms.

Elambalur has few pilgrimage centres here that are visited by devotees from different places. This place is famous for pilgrimage tourism in Tamil Nadu. The Holy Bramma Rishi Hills, Sri Thirumangali Amman Kovil, Sri Thirumangali Amman Kovil, Sri Muthu Swami, Sri Periya Swami, Sri Selli Amman Temples, Sri Ayyanar, Sri Pandur Muthu Swami are some of the important temples located here. Sri Thirumangali Amman Kovil situated here is believed to have been constructed by ancient Tamil kings almost 500 years back. The Karthikai Deepam is one of the famous festivals celebrated every year in Brammarishi Hills on a grand scale. In the year 1995, Thalayaadi Sidhar Samathi was also established in the vicinity of Brammarishi hills.
Elambalur is well connected with different modes of transport. The government of Tamil Nadu began a new express bus service from Elambalur to Chennai.
