The troops provided significant military service in several British battles and conquests, such as, the Anglo-Soviet invasion of Iran, the Syria Lebanon Campaign (Operation Exporter) and the Anglo-Iraqi War. Later in June 1942, the 20th Indian Infantry Brigade was stationed in Egypt and was destroyed on 18 June 1942 at Gambut. However, it was regenerated in the Nile Delta and was allotted to the 10th Indian Infantry Division. It fought in the Western Desert Campaign of the North African Campaign during the Second World War. The troops then took part in the Italian Campaign and served in Italy till the culmination of the War.
