Odayan an Indian comics series, published and distributed in India by Level 10 Entertainment in their flagship monthly publication Comic Jump, which is an Indian comics magazine. The subject matter of the series Odayan, released by Level 10 Comics, is based in the various ancient martial art forms of India. The plot of the comic anthology is set in the background of feudal Kerala and revolves around the male protagonist known only as Odayan. He is a vigilante and criminal engulfed in mystery, who has taken up a mission slowly accumulate wealth and gain power through bestial force and deception. Eventually Odayan establishes a criminal empire for himself which will finally challenge the rule of the Zamorin. Level 10 Comics has developed the all new series in order to propagate the different types of ancient Indian martial arts.
The comics publishing company operates from the city of Mumbaiand was established in 2009 and is considered as one of the prominent contemporary Indian comics. From April 2010, Level 10 Comics released various titles to cater to the teen audiences in urban areas with their flagship publication Comic Jump. The monthly series of Odayan is created by writer and co-founder Suhas Sundar and is graphically illustrated and coloured by Deepak Sharma, who has also worked with Kriyetic Comics and Vimanika comics as well. The letters of the series are done by Raghavendra Kamath and additional digital effects are provided by Santosh Pillewar.
Odayan, set in feudal Kerala, is about the martial arts expert vigilante who has caught the attention of the Zamorin, the royal title used by the Hindu Samantha Kshatriya kings of Calicut. The Zamorin of Calicut now plans to deal with Odayan, who is a threat to his rule, in his own violent way. This monthly series is the first comics from Level 10 that is made digital. The male protagonist is designed in a unique manner and is inspired by the look of the Kathakali Dancers. The mission of the mysterious assassin is to annihilate the masters of the combat form of Kalaripayattu.
The Odayan series consists of two distinct types of artworks, both defining two different periods in the storyline. The style of illustration that depicts the ancient period is created in a different style, which narrates the events that occurred in the past, related to Lord Parashurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and his land Bhargavakshetram.
