Satpura National Park is situated in the Hoshangabad
district of Madhya Pradesh
, India. The National Park is implanted in the rocky landscape of the Mahadeo Hills situated in the Satpura Mountain Range. It is spread over an area of 524 sq km and together with Panchmarhi Sanctuary and Bori Wildlife Sanctuary; it covers a total area of 1427 sq km. The well preserved and unharmed eco-system of Satpura National Park, mainly a Tiger Reserve Area, was established in the year 1981.
Topography of Satpura National Park
The landscape of the national park is tremendously jagged and comprises of deep valleys, sandstone peaks, rivulets, narrow gorges, ravines and thickly dense forests of Sal. The altitude ranges from 300 m to 1352 m. It has Dhoopgarh peak as high as 4500 feet (1400 m) and the almost level plains of Churna. The ragged altitude ranges between 290m to 1352 m. Dhoopgarh is the highest peak in Satpura National Park, with an elevation of 1400 m. The astounding panorama of the Satpura National Park lures the tourists with its delicate blend of beautiful blue rivers, stunning waterfalls and particularly the widespread Tawa Reservoir
The Satpura National Park, situated in Madhya Pradesh faces severe temperature fluctuations which affects its weather around the year. The temperature usually remains within 37 degree Centigrade in summer. During the winter season, the temperature falls below 7 degree centigrade.
Flora and fauna of Satpura National Park
Satpura National Park is rich in bio-diversity, consisting over 1300 species of trees and plants. Among the trees found here, Tendu, Sal, Bel, Mahua
, Aonla and various types of medicinal plants and grasses, are abundant. Various types of animals reside in the lush and dense forests; over 50 different species of mammals are available in the national park, along with 250 different types of birds and 30 types of reptiles.

Tourism in Satpura National Park
The Satpura National Park attracts several tourists to the region with its stunning landscape and varied flora and fauna. There are facilities available for taking tourists on a safari, and vehicles are available from n Panchmarhi. The national park is well connected with Railway stations like Hoshangabad, Pipariya and Sohagpur. Bhopal
Airport is also near the area and is only 200km away. Satpura National Park is spread over Jabalpur
