The 53rd Indian Infantry Brigade was raised as a British Indian infantry force for providing service during the Second World War. The armed formation remained in existence from the year 1942 to 1945. It was formed in March 1942 under the British Indian Army.
The brigade was attached allotted to the 20th Indian Infantry Division in April 1942. Afterwards it was assigned to the 25th Indian Infantry Division in August 1942. However it was later allotted to the 23rd Indian Infantry Division and served under its command until the end of World War II.
