The temple at Tiruvannamalai is one of the biggest and grandest temples in the southern parts of India. With the hill as background, it gives the appearance of a fort to those who see it from a distance. Sri Seshadri Swamigal Ashram is the place where Mahan Sri Seshadri Swamigal lived in the later half of the twentieth Century. This Ashram is one of the holy places in the district of Tiruvannamalai where people from different parts of the world visit. It is located near the Sri Ramana Ashram. The garden in the Sri Seshadri Swamigal Ashram attracts people who visit here. The Sri Ramana Ashram is another holy place in the district where Mahan Sri Ramana Maharishi lived. The Mahan Sri Ramana Maharishi attained mukti in the year 1950. There is another ashram by the name of Yogi Ram Surathkumar Ashram which is situated in the Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu state. This ashram is also called Visiri Samiyar Ashram. It is one of the most beautiful ashrams in the district which is located close to the Ramana Ashram. Devotees from all over the world visit the Yogi Ram Surathkumar Ashram.

Apart from the temples and the ashrams, dams also play a major role in attracting tourists to this district. One of the dams in the Tiruvannamalai is the Sathanur Dam. It is one of the major dams of the district which was erected across the River Pennaiyar among the Chennakesava Hills. The dam was constructed in 1958. This dam has a fine parks and a mini zoo. The garden is dotted with beautifully coloured statues. There is also a swimming pool and a crocodile farm. The Jawadhu Hills located seventy five kilometers from Tiruvannamalai is a major tourist destination. The cliffs and precipices of hills excite and allure the tourists. Some of the most prominent places of interest in the Jawadhu hills include Amirthi Forest, Komutteri Lake, Glass House, Kavalur Observatory and the Beema Falls.
