Screen Awards are presented to the film personalities of Hindi film industry for honouring their professional excellence. The nominations and winners are selected by a panel of jury members belonging to the film fraternity. This prestigious award ceremony was started in the year 1994 and is conducted every year. It is the only award ceremony of the country which has been attended by the Executive Director and the Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
20th Screen Awards
The 20th edition of Screen Awards was held on 14th January 2014 and it was telecasted on 25th January 2014 on Life Ok channel. The award was organized to honour the best films of 2013. The event was anchored by Shahrukh Khan. In the year 2013, the Hindi film industry presented some of the finest films which posed a tough competition in the Screen Awards for Best Film category. The films which received nominations in this category included Kai Po Che!, Madras Cafe, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, The Lunchbox, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The award was however won by the movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is a biographical sports drama film, featuring Farhan Akhtar, Divya Dutt and Sonam Kapoor. Produced and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra the film is based on the life of Milkha Singh, an Indian athlete who owns the credit of being an Olympian and a national champion. The film has been the fifth highest grossing Bollywood film of the year 2013 in the country.
