IIFA Awards for Best ActressIIFA Awards or International Indian Film Academy Awards is an annual ceremony where awards are presented by the International Indian Film Academy for commemorating the technical and artistic eminence of the film professionals belonging to the Hindi film industry. The event is important for promoting the Indian cinema at international level. The award ceremony was introduced in the year 2000 and since then is held at different places all over the world every year. It is a three day celebration in which awards are conferred under different categories for appreciating the works of film professionals in varied cinematic fields.

15th IIFA Awards
15th IIFA Awards ceremony was held in the year 2014 from 23rd to 26th April for honouring the best films of 2013. The event took place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, in the United States and was co-anchored by Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor. The Bollywood flicks in 2013 featured some of the talented actresses of Hindi film industry who delivered remarkable performances in leading roles. The nominations for the category included Deepika Padukone for Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Deepika Padukone for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Nimrat Kaur for The Lunchbox, Shraddha Kapoor for Aashiqui 2, Sonakshi Sinha for Lootera and Deepika Padukone for Chennai Express. IIFA Awards for Best Actress in 2014 was won by Deepika Padukone for the film Chennai Express.

Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful Bollywood actresses and model, who has created waves in celluloid with her ravishing persona and skilful acting. In a short span of time she has established herself amongst the leading actresses through her dramatic versatility. In the movie Chennai Express Deepika essayed the role of a south Indian woman named Meenalochni Azhagusundaram. Her acting received positive reviews from critics as well as viewers.
