The Vishnu Purana states that Sveta is one of the ten daughters of Krodhavasa. Sveta is the mother of the eight elephants attached to the four quarters and intermediate points of the compass, to support and guard the earth.
The sisters of Sveta are Mrigi, Mrgamanda, Hari, Bhardamada, Matangi, Sarduli, Surabhi, Surasa and Kadruka.
