Pushpatmitra or Pusyamitra was the first emperor of the Sunga Dynasty. He reigned at Mekala, a country on the Narbada.
Pusyamitra or Pusyamitra was the Senapati of the Mauryan Empire. He assassinated the last Mauryan Emperor during an army review, and declared himself King.
He then executed the Ashwamedha Yajna or the horse sacrifice and brought much of Northern India under his rule.
