Purushottama is one of the names of Lord Rama, who is referred as God. He is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Purushottama means 'Supreme Purusha' or 'Supreme Being' and Lord Rama lived an extra ordinary life in an ordinary man's life.
Purushottama or Purushotthama was the king of Kekaya. Kekaya was the land of the Puru tribe. It was one of the janapadas or kingdoms that originated from Aryan settlements in ancient India. Kekaya was located in the middle of Punjab. Purushottama is possibly the Porus who fought Alexander the Great at the battle of the Hydaspes River.
