Ilwala is a renowned demon, who is the son of Hiada. Ilwala is the hero of various legends in the Puranas. Ilwala had a cousin of the same name, the son of Viprachitti, who was also distinguished amongst the Danavas.
Again, Ilwala is familiar to assume the form of a Brahman. Along with his brother Vatapi, Ilwala used to lure many of the Brahmans. Later, Ilwala was destructed by the sage Agastya.
